19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour title, took control to force a decider.

The opponent defended four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
