Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state early analysis show the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
An important official stated the attack rendered him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
